Penrite Racing’s Anton De Pasquale has added to his best points haul this weekend with another top ten result at Tailem Bend, while teammate David Reynolds drove past the checkered flag 13th.
When the green flags were waved, there was chaos again amongst the mid-pack. Both drivers did a solid job to avoid it all though and powered on to move up two places each before the end of the second lap.
David set off in pursuit of Shane van Gisbergen but was halted when the call to pit came over the radio; David stopping for tyres and fuel.
Anton followed shortly after and when the field settled down, it was Anton in 6thand David 9th.
The #99 was hot on the tail of Cam Waters when the two followed each other into pit lane at the end of lap 15 for the second round of stops.
The move came down to the pit crew; Anton passing the #6 in pit lane and with enough fuel onboard to see him through to the end of lap 41.
David came into the lane just two laps later and after a long stop with fuel, he eventually emerged 13thafter the field settled for a final time.
With no movement in the field during the closing stint, Anton eventually came home 7th, rounding out his best weekend to date, and David just outside the top ten.
Their good points haul has solidified both drivers inside the top ten of the Championship, David 6thand Anton 10th.
David Reynolds – Started: 15th, Finished: 13th
“This weekend was trying, but I’m semi optimistic. The car didn’t feel that bad, I didn’t feel that bad but for some reason we just weren’t fast today. It’s possible we misread the track a bit, or played with the set up too much but there’s not a resolution out of today.
“We head to Pukekohe now and I love that track, it’s really good fun, I’ve won a few races there before and been on the podium also. I hope we can go there with a fast car and start moving back up the ladder in the back part of the year.”
Anton De Pasquale – Started: 7th, Finished: 7th
“I’m pretty happy with the weekend’s results; I think both days we probably got the results we deserved for the pace we had. We moved forward yesterday and held our own today which is something we’ve been working towards. It’s probably the most points we have earned in one weekend, so as a whole we did a pretty good job.
“I think we were much the same in today’s race, just that the track changed a little bit, at the same time everyone worked hard overnight to perfect things so we weren’t as fast today but we’ll have a look at why and learn for next time but as a whole, we were competitive every session so that was really good. My aim was to get into the top ten by the end of the year so to get there now is great; we just need to keep getting the results to stay there.”
